Week 15

Week 15: Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Average size: 4.0 in, 2.5 oz

I've hit 15 weeks today. It's really wild to think in another 5 weeks I'll be halfway done with my pregnancy. My next appointment is on Tuesday. Ryan and I will be leaving Tuesday after I get off work for our last pre-baby vacation so there's no guarantee that I'll blog about the appointment until after we get back.

We're headed to Denver to see a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) event. We're going with two of Ryan's coworkers and their wives. It'll be fun and we'll be able to stay in Denver for a day or two before heading back. More news about that later.

I finally went back to the gym today and went for swim with my sister Lori. I think I maybe did about 1/4 or 1/3 of a mile which was the first bit of exercise I've been able to have energy to do during my pregnancy. It was nice to be able to feel completely buoyant as opposed to the bathtub where I can't fit completely.

Mother Nature: You Suck

Dear Mother Nature,

Can you please make up your mind?  It's almost April and the weather guy has already announced that we've past the first day of spring.  SPRING.  Not winter, not fall, but spring.  Spring does not mean cold freezing temperatures that require winter jackets.  I'm going on the record: you officially suck.  I'll rescind my comment when you finally decide what season we're supposed to be in.

Boy or Girl?

Yes, we want to know what we're having, but we won't know for a few weeks.  I'll have an exact date for the gender sonogram after my appointment next Tuesday, but in the mean time let me know what you think by voting over on the right!

Week 14

I found this really cool sight online that shows how big baby is by fruit. Each week is a different fruit except towards the end where each month is a fruit.  Of course it would have to end with a watermellon!  We'll see how long I can keep it up - it's kind of cool to see the progression.

Week 14: Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth. Average size: 3.4 inches, 1.5 ounces.

Morning sickness has decreased but is not fully gone.  I still haven't gained any weight (not that I'm complaining) so I'm hoping that the recoup time after I have my baby will be easy.  I felt the baby move again on Saturday.  It's just a surreal feeling that there's something inside me moving.  Bed time is still around 9:30 or 10 but I've been staying up later and paying for it the next day.  I'm starting to feel like I have more energy, so maybe I'll start going back to the gym and do some walking.

In other news, Ryan finally got home from his out of town training at 12:30 am Friday night/Saturday morning.  He'll be working on grouting and sealing the tile in the master bathroom this week.  I have a good feeling that all our little projects (finish basement, carpet up and downstairs, paint/repaint rooms) will be done by June.  Here's to wishful thinking.

Table for one

Tonight is my last night as a bachelorette.  Ryan has been in New Mexico since Monday for training for work and will be back in town tomorrow night (yay!).  When I got up this morning, I saw I had a enormous pile of laundry to do and a stack of dishes that isn't going anywhere.  I decided as a treat that I'm going to break out my Tea Posy tonight and enjoy a nice cup of tea between all the work I've procrastinated doing.

When Lori and I went to visit Amanda this weekend, we went to the mall to look for dresses.  We stopped at Gloria Jean's, a coffee place in the mall, for a quick caffeine pick-me-up for the girls.  I saw Tea Posys on the shelf and had seen them on some HGTV program a while ago.  The tea posy has these hand packed tea pods that when you put them in boiling water, they turn into the beautiful flower bloom that you see in the first picture.  Click the picture to learn more about them!

May Contain: Grapes

I went to Dillon's on my lunch hour yesterday and picked up some fruits, tomatoes and cottage cheese for lunch.  One of my choices for fruit was a container of mixed red and green grapes.  Wonderfully, they were washed and did not include any stems.  As I neared the bottom of the container, I could see a label stuck on the bottom.  Curiosity kicked in, so I put the lid back on and flipped it over.  What did it say?

MAY CONTAIN: RED, GREEN, OR BLACK GRAPES

Well it's a good thing that Dillon's labels stuff because I couldn't tell from the price tag what was in my container of mixed seedless grapes.

2nd Trimester!

So I know it's a day early, but I'll be out of town this weekend and couldn't wait to post.  Saturday marks the 13th week of my pregnancy.  That also means that I'll be starting my second trimester!  Yay!

Another big milestone - I felt the baby move!  I was driving home from work Wednesday night and he kept moving for a good 5 - 10 minutes.  It was a very surreal feeling and I can't wait to feel more movement.

3 months and counting!

Tomorrow marks the 12th week or 3rd month in my pregnancy. Yay! Here's a picture from my sonogram on Tuesday.

The little circle on the left is whats left of the yolk sac. Going from left to right, you can see the head, eyes, ears, and nose. The little blob above his head is his arm. You can also see the umbilical cord and a bit of legs.

I shared most everything else in the post below. Due date is still September 20th. I have a strange feeling that he (or she) will actually come on September 15th. Maybe it's because there will be a full moon that day and we were married on the day of a full moon. Not sure. That's my pick in the baby pool.

2nd doctor's appointment

I had my second doctor's appointment today.  I figured that this would be a safe time for Ryan to start missing my appointments - wrong!  I got another sonogram.  Yay!  My little one is growing right on schedule.  We don't know what it is yet, but I've been calling it he - it just sounds so much better than calling a baby "it."  With that said, his heart rate went from 131 at the first appointment to 171 at this appointment.  I'll never get tired of seeing that little heart beat.  On the sonogram picture (which I promise to post as soon as I scan it in) you can see a distinct profile - head, eye sockets, nose, ear, arms and legs.  The doctor also told me that I may start feeling flutters within the next month or so.  I'm so excited for that.

At my next appointment, April 1st, I'll be able to schedule my gender sonogram.  That will happen between 16 or 18 to 22 weeks, which puts us at sometime in April or May.  If I can time it right, I might try to do it on our anniversary - May 2.  Ryan has drill that weekend so that means that he'll have Friday night off from work.

I didn't post anything for my 11 week update since not a lot has changed.  I ended up loosing 4 pounds since I've been avoiding most fast food and other greasy foods and chowing down on fresh fruits and some veggies.  Chocolate is good, but lately nothing beats a grapefruit, watermelon or cantaloupe.  I've been sleeping more on my side and less on my back which is good practice for later on.  I still have a bit of morning sickness which Ryan is getting used to the wonderful sounds I make.  He has noticed that my new favorite foods have been doing wonders for me.  He told me yesterday that he can tell I've lost weight in my butt, thighs and hips.  Big yay for that.  The doctor told me that I can expect little to no weight gain within the next few weeks or month or so and then it should start picking up again.

Ryan has started a side project to the basement.  He's tiling our guest/hallway bathroom.  We love the design we picked out, but it means that every tile had to be cut.  He made the last cut yesterday!  Pending a nap or two tomorrow (he'll have just finished a 10 hour shift at 7 am) he said he'd start putting down the stuff to secure the tile to the floor.
