Hey Mr. Sandman

My mom gave this strange sand thing to my dad for Christmas. It's a frame with liquid and sand in it that you flip over and create different "pictures" as the sand falls to the bottom of the frame. Kaden and I went to visit them tonight. As Dad and I were playing cribbage, Mom was "painting pictures." She showed this one off to us and Dad and I instantly saw a face in the right corner of the frame. She didn't believe us and thought that we were pulling her leg when we told her to grab her camera and take a picture of the face. You can see the guy's eyes, nose (fairly sizable), mouth, mustache, beard, and billowy hair.

There's another face that's in the middle of the frame. You can make out an ear, nose, eyebrow ridge, lips/mouth and even a neck if you look at it just right.

Does this mean if we say it's Jesus that we can sell it on EBay for a few million? We'd put in fine print that there's no guarantee the picture won't change when it ships.

Confirm This!

I was looking at some information about Google Sites this afternoon.  My boss was looking at that for something and came over to my office to chat about something else.  I signed up for an account, but they give you one of those weird words or letters that you have to type in to make sure you're a human creating things and not a random robot.  I'm not making this up at all, but here is what it wanted me to type in:

Rubber Ducky, you're the one!

I couldn't make this one up. NASA is using 90 rubber duckys to determine where melted glacial ice is going. Now all of Kaden's rubber duckys have role models!

Wind Damage

Yesterday afternoon didn't exactly go like I hoped it would. I left my office last night and found the wonderful scene:

The whole back window on my car was shattered! Campus police said it was wind damage - I've never heard of that before. Anyway that was the longest drive (15 miles) back to the west side of Wichita that I've ever had. The window ended up collapsing into my car on the drive. Mom and dad let me house my car in their garage since our garage is full of tools, drills, table saws, carpet, wood, sheetrock among other things.
The repair guy showed up promplty at 9:00 and was quick to replace the window. He said I'll probably be finding glass shards for a while. Note to self: vacuum car before letting people ride in the back seat.

Tastes like kiwi!

I was able to find my dragon fruit this weekend at the Thai Bihn Supermarket.  It's a very strange and interesting fruit.  It was very easy to cut - a knife will slide right through the flesh like a knife through water.  The fruit tastes very mild and refreshing.  The seeds pop in your mouth!  This fruit is very similar to kiwi, but not as tangy.  It's also not quite as sweet as watermelon.  I'm going to try making dragon sorbet next!
