Basement News

Ryan has finished the drywall in the basement!  Yippee.  Here's our new list of Honey-dos:
  • Troy, our acid concrete stainer guy, will be visiting us either Wednesday or Thursday to look at our bathroom floor.  I've given Ryan creative liberties with the floor - he can have Troy do whatever he wants down there.  I'm quite pleased with the way the floor around the bar turned out, so I know it will look awesome.
  • Check to see when someone can mud and tape the walls and ceilings.  While they are doing that, Ryan will be hanging a ceiling in the laundry room.
  • Paint primer on all walls and ceilings.
  • Tile shower back splash.
  • Install cabinets, sink, mirror and toilet in bathroom.
  • Install shelving in the hall closet and bedroom closet.
Flooring is another matter.  We'll need to have Jesse (our carpet guy) come in and carpet the downstairs.  Then we'll move the office from upstairs to downstairs.  After the office is empty, we'll need to some how juggle all the furniture upstairs to re-carpet up there too.  And I'm sure before we rip up the old carpet, Ryan will want to repaint both bedrooms.

The goal is to have all this done by the time the baby comes.  With Ryan's pace, I'm sure we'll have this list knocked out by June or July.

1/4 Pregant

Yesterday was the 10th week of my pregnancy. It's a little exciting/strange to think that I'm already one quarter done. My energy level is starting to go up a little bit, not by much though. So far I haven't gained anything (yay!). My diet has pretty much consisted of fresh fruits and veggies so my healthy eating habits has probably helped.

I haven't had to start wearing maternity pants yet, but I'm in that odd limbo in-between time when my pants are a little too tight and maternity pants are a bit too big. I bought a Bella Band at a maternity store called Marshmallow Kisses last week. It's awesome. It's like a light weight tube top that you wear over your too big or too small pants and it keeps the pants from falling down.

I'm getting more excited about our basement bathroom. We looked at sink cabinents at Lowes this weekend and tile at Star Lumber. I think we may check in to having the bathroom floor concrete stained just like we had the area around the bar stained. The floor area is only 5 foot by 5 foot, so it would be quite a bit faster to stain it instead of putting tile down.

We picked up cat food this weekend too. We buy the huge 15 or 20 pound bag of food and then put it in smaller cat food jugs that we bought when Fez was little. The food has been sitting on one of the chairs in the kitchen for about 24 hours, but apparently Fez was a little anxious to get to the food. We don't starve our cats - they have an automatic food despenser that gives them access to food at all hours of the day. I think Fez just likes really fresh food (even if he has to open the bag himself).

Why I hate technology

For the past 5 or so years I have received awesome service from my cell phone provider (who shall remain nameless in case they are spying on me).  I've never had anything to complain about until today.  Over the past 24 hours I have received mysterious text messages from Yahoo about mortgage foreclosures.  The odd thing about this is that I don't recall signing up for these alerts and Yahoo doesn't have any record of me signing up for these either.

Normally I don't mind the random one or two unwanted text messages.  I have received no less than 6 within the last 24 hours.  The most irritating ones occurred at 10 PM, 2 AM and 6 AM.  I admit that I do text quite a bit (several hundred messages a month), but this just ticks me off!  I'm just glad that I didn't have my phone in my bedroom last night or it would have woken me and Ryan from our sleep.

To make matters worse (or at least a little more irritating), the afore mentioned cell phone provider is "upgrading my account" for a 72 hour time period (going on 96 by my count) and can't make any changes to my account.  I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait it out.

9 weeks, 4 days

Ryan and I went on vacation to New Mexico last week, which is why there was no week 8 or week 9 letters.  We went to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos and Angel Fire.  Ryan went skiing with my sisters, dad, brother-in-law Brian and almost brother-in-law Kurtis.  I stayed at the condo with mom - it wasn't worth a few days of skiing to risk falling down or being hit.

Most of the morning sickness has subsided - yay!  I still have some periods of it every now and then.  Ryan and I went out to eat and then to a movie last night to celebrate my birthday.  On the way home from the movie I started gagging.  Ryan said that I looked like our cats - mostly Amy when we try to feed her something and she gags at the taste.

Our basement is getting closer to being finished.  Ryan and his dad worked on hanging more sheetrock yesterday.  There's only a few more pieces that need to go up.  We have water hookups in the new bathroom now.  Once the basement bathroom and bedroom are finished, the office will be moved downstairs to make room for the baby's room.

I'm starting to get a bit of a belly too.  My doctor said that most of it is bloating, so you don't get to see any pictures until it gets a little bigger.  Sorry!  It is becoming more noticable though.  It's weird to think that I have a little person growing inside of me.  Sometimes it just hits me, "Hey, I'm pregnant.  There's going to be a baby here in 7 months."

First Sonogram!

We had our first baby appointment today. We saw and heard the heart beat! The baby measured a little smaller than it should be for 8 weeks so the doctor adjusted the due date to September 20th. So I'm 7 weeks along right now. We won't get another sonogram until 16 to 22 weeks when we can determine the sex.

I got a huge bag of stuff from the doctor's office - magazines, books, coupons and such. Lots of stuff to read and look at.

I did discover another food aversion today - Raisin Bran. I won't go into details, but I understand how people can loose weight during their first months of pregnancy. :( Exhaustion is still here, which will make our trip to New Mexico very interesting.

Week 7

Week 7. Still tired. Still hungry. I do have this wonderful little thing called morning sickness that I've had to deal with. It's more like dry heaves, but it's still not quite fun to deal with. And who ever called it morning sickness needs to be shot. It was probably some guy that invented that name. I get this stuff all day - mostly when I'm hungry though.

I did have food aversions this past week! Baby does not like it when mommy eats milk duds, whoppers (the chocolate candy) or ham/eggs/cheese on a croissant. I'm not missing too much on any of these foods, so I'm not complaining.

My first appointment is tomorrow. Ryan will be coming with and he is excited too. I am scheduled to get a sonogram - our first peek! Hopefully everything will go well and I'll have a picture to post.
